Unethical appointments and climate change, specifically the appointment of the current EPA chief and the interim EPA chief
I am focusing on the unethical appointments and climate change, specifically the appointment of the current EPA chief and the interim EPA chief that followed him. My thoughts are as follows: The U.S. has removed itself as a leader in the worldwide fight against climate change. The Trump administration has emplaced cabinet heads that were leaders in competing industries like the former head of the EPA, Scott Pruitt, who was a lobbyist against environmental regulations and self-described as a leading advocate against the EPA. Additionally, the Trump administration’s current acting EPA chief, Andrew Wheeler, is a former coal industry lobbyist. At face value, both of these EPA chiefs have a glaring ethical conflict of interests because they are in charge of an organization that they have rallied against, the EPA. I intend to argue that the appointment of these two EPA chiefs is unethical and detrimental to U.S. goals and objectives.
