The Soft Power of Japan’s Gross National Cool.
Joseph Nye coined the term “soft power” to describe a nation’s ability to extend its influence to other countries through non-traditional means other than the “hard power” elements of economics, diplomacy, and military might. Do you find this to be true in Japan’s case? To what extent has Japan been able to spread its influence to other nations through means of soft power? What are the barriers or problems affecting Japan’s ability to do this?
