The Consequences of the Incarnation
Madeline L’Engle says “There is nothing so secular that it cannot be sacred, and that is one of the deepest messages of the Incarnation.” Irenaeus said: “The Word of God, Jesus Christ, out of his boundless love, became what we are, that he might make us what he is.” If we truly believe in the Incarnation, in the Word become flesh, then it should change us. It should move us… because the Incarnation calls us to bring Christ to life, to bring Christ to others. Reflect and respond to the following questions: What are the consequences of the Incarnation in relation to our personal prayer lives? How does it affect how we should seek reconciliation and live a life of healing and reconciliation? How does it affect how we approach the Eucharist, if we are Catholic? How does the Incarnation affect our experience and life within the community? What about our mission within the larger world community? Be specific.
