Principles of war
Write a 3-4 page position paper on the following. Select one or more of the nine principles of war from the Army FM-3-0 list or from a theorist mentioned in the class readings, and describe a battle from military history that demonstrates either the effective use of the principle or a failure to use the principle. For example, the German offensive in the opening of the Battle of France in World War II (1940) was a demonstration of surprise, mass and offensive. (Plus the French High Command were disjointed and inept……..) The attack on Pearl Harbor is a classic example of surprise. PLEASE TRY TO SELECT A BATTLE FROM EITHER WORLD WAR I OR II. Be sure to apply proper Chicago Manual of Style notations in your paper, utilizing footnotes and a full bibliography at the end of the paper with all of your sources listed. Part of your grade will be determined by your sources, their quality, and proper Chicago Style formatting. Papers should be double-spaced, with standard 1-inch margins and a 12 point Times New Roman font. I do not count words but papers significantly shorter or significantly longer than this will be penalized. A bibliography page nor charts or maps do not count in the required page count of the paper.
