Paper details:
TOPIC QUESTION: How does Bicycle Thieves (1948) reflect a European Art cinema sensibility? You may focus on character types, settings, historic contexts, narrative themes and/or uses of film style in your response. This essay is an Audio-Visual Essay, which is where i will record word for word into a video from what is written. So this is just the script. You must demonstrate an understanding of what European art cinema involves in relation to Bicycle Thieves (1948) and its corresponding film movement (Italian Neo-Realism). The script, it’s not a formal film or television script where you follow a particular format/template. What we’re simply asking for is also a basic written version of your Audio-Visual essay where you put down on paper what the voice over will say, what any quotes you might use, plus perhaps some general indication of the images/sequences you might use (but not entirely necessary because you’ll be discussing/analysing what these are/signposting them in your script). No special language required. Think of it as a basic essay: beginning, middle and end, one that makes an argument which is developed through discussion/analysis/illustration to support your main point or points. script/AV essay will need an introduction, middles section/s and a conclusion of some sort so you can clearly state what point/argument it is that you’re making, illustrate it and then sum it up at the end. So, yes, proper introduction which leads us into your point/argument and analysis of the film to illustrate your point/argument. Introduction before the analysis/illustration. Please put each section in a paragraph, each argument is in seperate paragraphs. There are files of documents you must only use for this audio-visual essay. The ones labelled “MUST USE” must be used but with the other ones, pick just one so there is 3 in total. please specify what 3 books you use here is the link to the movie, there are english subtitles available: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yHxSsALvX6g Please for the arguments, talk about any of the 2 mise-en-scene (including acting and performance), setting, cinematography, editing and sound, or any from the topic question above. when talk about each one, please seperate each one in its one paragraph. Also when you quote something from one of the articles/movie, or point out a specific part of the film. Can you please write what page number you used or the time from the movie used in the argument(s). When referencing the movie and books, please follow the guide PDF called “HARVARD referencing examples” thats attached to do in-text reference for quotes etc and end referencing that the uni provides us to do.
