Inductive vs deductive 1 – When to choose qualitative or quantitative.
Assume that all the facts and assertions in these paragraphs are correct. Why do the conclusions not follow? What are the alternative explanations for the facts? What tests would tend to confirm or disconfirm these explanations? There are no tricks here and only in question 1 is the specific wording crucial. The objective is to understand whether inference follows from observation, if not, why? Inference: Today older people tend to be more political conservative than younger ones. The explanation lies in the aging process—older people are more set in their ways and have more to lose by social change.
