Make a claim and provide evidence that Jesus is compassionate
Paper details:
Short Essay about a Biblical Text: his project involves a few steps that culminate in writing a short, thesis-driven essay that explains a passage in Matthew. Fast forward to one year from now. You have a friend in next year’s JCC class who has been reading Matthew as homework but is having trouble understanding what Matthew is saying. One day, she finds you at lunch and asks, “What does this passage in Matthew mean? What do I need to know to make sense of this?” She doesn’t have time to read all of the library’s commentaries, and she is hoping that you will be able to offer a quick (but reliable!) solution. Since you have already passed this class with flying colors, you are able to pull out your essay on just the passage that she needed. She is eternally grateful for your help and amazed by your astute insights into this passage in Matthew. Rewind back to today. In order to be that great friend next year, you will write an essay that answers her question this semester. To do that, you will be working through this project in stages that build on one another: (1) Interpretation Exercises Paper; (2) Annotated Bibliography & Brief Review of Scholarship;and(3) Short Essay. Your first step is to pick a passage with which you will work for Matthew 14:13-21 (Jesus feeds 5000)
