This is a research paper; therefore, your points must be supported with research, and your research must be cited and referenced using APA format

APA format must be used for the title page, titles and subtitles, pagination, margins, spacing, font, and documentation (citations and references).

You must use sources in your essay, including the following:

• At least one journal article obtained through the CYC Subject Guide
• A reputable website, such as a government or university site, or an association related to your specific issue (i.e. AutismCanada.org or the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health)
• A third reputable source of your choice

Essay Structure

Introduction (one separate paragraph). Please include

 A lead-in to your topic to set the context for your paper i.e. an explanation or definition of the issue or one of the lead-in styles from the essay writing PowerPoint.
 A central or controlling idea 
 An overview of the main points (minimum of 3; maximum of 5) that your essay will cover

Body – APA-formatted subtitles are required (at least one paragraph for each main point; two if needed)

 Develop the points laid out in the overview into at least one section each. You might consider developing your information using any of the following methods:
o Cause(s) of the issue/problem/disorder
o Symptoms or signs of the issue/problem/disorder
o Effects of the issue/problem/disorder on the child or teen
o Effects of the issue/problem/disorder on family and friends
o Cure, medical or therapeutic interventions, coping strategies, support (i.e. local support groups), or resources

 Each body section will be identified with an APA-formatted subtitle (see Stephanie Griffin’s paper for the correct format)

Conclusion (one separate paragraph)
