Explain XML to a person majoring in English or another non-technical subject. Make sure you understand it first, and then describe its history, why it was invented, what it is used for, etc. Please use technical terms in your essay, and then explain each in everyday language. Feel free to use examples or case studies. The end result is that the reader should come away with an understanding of XML (even though they may not have your technical background). It will also demonstrate that you understand the subject. Write a multi-paragraph response.
