• As energy consultants, prepare a presentation and written report as if making suggestions to the owner of the BTC Building. o The written report should provide detail sufficient for complete understanding of the group’s recommendations for anyone reviewing the proposal in depth or by someone who was not able to attend the presentation. o The presentation should be a summary only. Similar to a proposal presentation to a busy client. • Describe each Energy Conserving Measure (ECM) appropriate for the BTC Building o When possible suggest actual product specifications o Suggest additional steps the owner could take to complete a more detailed analysis of the potential for ECM savings (tests, procedures, studies or services that could be performed by an energy consultant or the owner’s personnel) o Describe who should implement the ECMs – contractors, consultants, owner’s personnel, tenants, etc. Provide details of procedures if appropriate. • Supply the rational for selecting the ECMs o Group ECMs by some priority – for example easily implemented, low cost, biggest impact vs. complex, high cost, long payback o Show an energy use comparison between the current energy use and the expected performance after the ECMs are implemented o Describe the tools or practices used for the selection – energy audit checklists, references for tips or suggested best practices, energy modeling software, etc. o Supply sufficient detail for all ECMs suggested so that a building owner without energy conserving technology knowledge would understand the suggestions • Financial Analysis of Cost vs. Benefit o Can be basic and based on cost assumptions • Provide recognition of the benefits to the occupants of the BTC Building o Remember that the occupants of the building are renters. Help the owner understand why they should invest in the ECMs. Will they justify a rent increase? Will they justify a change in the way utility costs are paid for by the tenants? • Provide recognition of the social benefits of implementing the ECMs o Greenhouse gas reduction, reduced utility demand, etc.
