What makes any one story fine? Select a story from our syllabus that exhibits those elements you consider essential in good fiction. Support your viewpoint with clearly stated, specific observations regarding the story you have selected. Your essay must demonstrate sufficient analysis to prove the point: the story is fine. Develop a thesis that can be stated in one or two sentences. Your thesis should indicate clearly and concisely the intention of your essay. Your thesis should encapsulate succinctly the point(s) you are attempting to elucidate. Remember to state your observations as assertions that you can support directly or indirectly from the primary material under discussion.
