Compare and contrast( Tolerance.org) go to texts/teaching tolerance/ (Goodreads.com) – search for books for teens and young adults Choose 2 of the websites listed above and respond in a narrative format to listed considerations and questions that need to be assessed to ask choosing on-line resources: (use content, audience, design as subheadings) Content – What topics are included? Are these topics explored in appropriate depth? • Is the purpose of the material apparent (to inform, explain, persuade, or entertain)? • Is supporting material available (such as bibliographies, indexes, charts, graphics…)? • Currency – Does date indicate the most recent modification or the date when first put on the web? • If there are links to other sites, are they still current or have they expired or moved? • Is currency an important factor for this material? • Audience – Is the material aimed at a general audience? Or a more educated, scholarly reader? • Is the material presented appropriate for the audience? • Design – Is the information presented in an appealing way? • Is it easy to navigate through the site and do the pages load quickly? • Are pages designed with the most important information at the top, so minimal scrolling is needed? • Has the site received an award or recommendation from reputable source?
