Part A (70%) : Analyse the extent to which TQM principles have influenced practice in one of the following business areas within your selected organisation: Sales and Marketing ( you can choose either or both) Recruitment and training IT support functions Strategy development, deployment and KPI’s Part B (30%) : For your chosen business area, identify examples of where TQM could further improve practice within your selected organisation. Further Guidance a) Be careful not to spend too much of your assignment simply describing course concepts or examples. Your emphasis should be on how the TQM principles have been or are being applied in your chosen organisation. b) The selected organisation can be from your own work experience or one that has been suitably researched (for example using secondary sources such as case studies, academic journals and quality journalism). c) Keep background information on the subject organisation brief but do provide some information. d) Ensure that you substantiate your arguments. So, if you maintain that your selected organisation has adopted a particular principle of TQM then do not simply assert this. What did it do? Similarly, if you believe the organisation was deficient in this respect, explain to what extent and why. e) Do not focus just on TQM tools, also consider how a TQM approach, for example customer orientation,  influenced practice for your chosen area. f) We also advise that you use the electronic databases (e.g. Business Source Premier and Emerald) in the library to search for additional academic articles which support your answer. g) All sources should be referenced appropriately (see guidance below). Be careful in your use of web based sources – consultancy based material carries little weight – use a legitimate academic source.
