“The Tipping Point” by Malcolm Gladwell.

July 28, 2024/0 Comments/in Uncategorized /by Admin

Follow all of the guidelines in the Analytical Writing Instructions to write one, long paragraph for each of the following 4 prompts below. You will turn in 4 paragraphs total. TIPS: Use only third-person point of view. Every paragraph needs to be developed using the principles of unity and coherence. Have a clear topic sentence at the beginning that answers the prompt, and then provide specific examples from the text to support your claim in the topic sentence. Every paragraph needs at least one direct quote integrated into it, and there should be multiple citations. In addition to direct quotes, cite paraphrases and summaries. And, each time you make a claim of your own, point to the place in the text that supports your claim by citing that place in the text. Texts are located in the Week 8 Module: 1) “The Tipping Point” by Malcolm Gladwell. Read Chapter One, “The Three Rules of Epidemics.” Explain how the three rules of the Tipping point work, and what is significant to society overall about the concept of the Tipping Point. Hint: It isn’t just about epidemics of physical diseases. 2) “Living Like Weasels” by Annie Dillard. Explain how the wildness of the weasel is a metaphor for how humans should find their “one necessity” and never let go. What does this mean? Text: The Metamorphosis of Prime Intellect 3) Chapter 8, 145-156. Explain what happens to Caroline and Lawrence after The Fall, and why this is important to the plot of the novel. 4) Chapter 8, 157-168. Explain how the novel ends, and how the ending contributes to the overall meaning and significance of the novel.
