THE PARTHENON ACROPOLIS ATHENS
For the primary source—the art itself–describe what the work is, who created it, where and when the work was created, and where it is located now. This information is best found in online museum catalogs. If you can, try to find the provenance of the item; that is what historical path did this item travel, or if it is a recent archaeological find. Pay attention to any scientific testing that may have been done to the item. For the secondary source, find an article that discusses some aspect of the item, or how it fits into the historical record or the artistic world. These are best found in the library’s databases.
In your paper, characterize the article and what it says about the work. For the tertiary source, find an article which combines other commentaries and sources into a larger work. Describe how this source treats the artwork and why the authors might use the artwork in their larger work.
