Subject: Psychopharmacology

The purpose of this task is to critically analyze the effects of psychotropic medications on body processes across the lifespan, examine the clinical implications, develop comprehensive knowledge about the use and adverse effects of these medications, and apply this knowledge by planning appropriate health teaching strategies. In the critical evaluation of an individual psychotropic medication class, you will apply scientific judgement, and contemporary evidence from a range of sources to underpin the use of pharmacological therapies, management of medication regimes, and frameworks which inform mental health nursing care. This task will also expand your understanding of the range of psychotherapeutic interventions that support recovery in different situations and contexts of care and will assist you in developing the skills required to assess an individual’s response to the administration of psychotropic medications.
