Statistics paper
Description
Write a reflective account of your work on the 2 statistic tasks from question 1 . Use ideas from the module, including one big idea in statistics and one pedagogic idea from the bookmark, to inform your reflection. Support your account by referring to your annotated evidence in the appendix. You need to include the following in your writing. The word counts for each part are a guideline to help you include important detail and demonstrate your understanding. a.An account of what you did and how you did it, explaining and justifying your choices, and demonstrating awareness of the statistical language that you use. (100 words for each task) b.An explanation of how you used ME626 ideas from Block 2 in your work, including at least one big idea in statistics and one other module idea from the bookmark. (200 words for each task, or 400 words) c.Your personal reflection on your role as a learner, making use of the pedagogic ideas in Block 2 (and Block 1) of ME626. This could, if appropriate, include reflecting on your use of ICT. (400 words in total) d.A separate appendix containing your mathematical work on the tasks, with labels and annotations that provide evidence for your reflection. (No word count)
PART 2: This question is about you as a teacher. It is a planning question and you do not use the task with your learners. Preparation: follow these instructions carefully Start by finding classroom materials suitable for your learners (in this case the learner is my 15 year old sister) : you will find suggestions in the module forum, or you could use school resources or online searches. Select one (approximately A4) page concerning statistics or statistical thinking that contains exercises or tasks for your learners to carry out. It must offer your learners some opportunities to analyse data, although these may be limited. here is the page you should use for part 2: https://corbettmaths.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/EstimatedMean-pdf.pdf Reflect: What are the learning objectives of the exercises or tasks on this page? In what ways does it offer learners opportunities to analyse data? How could these be enhanced? Design and make an alternative to the page you have chosen (which could include the use of ICT) to cover the same content, using the PCAI cycle and at least one other ME626 module idea. Consider how your learners might work on the alternative page. Writing Write a reflective account that analyses the chosen page and your alternative page. Use the module ideas, especially the PCAI cycle, to inform your reflection. Support your account by referring to your annotated pages in the appendix. You need to include the following in your writing. The word counts for each part are a guideline to help you include important detail and demonstrate your understanding. a.Explain how the existing page offers learners opportunities to analyse data. (300 words) b.Explain the thinking behind your design decisions, how learners will work on your alternative page and how it uses the PCAI cycle and another module idea. Justify how your alternative page is intended to cover the same content and how it will enhance a learner’s understanding of data analysis. (700 words) c.A separate appendix containing a copy of the original page and your alternative design, both with labels and annotations that provide evidence for your reflection. (No word count)
