Sports Consumer Behavior
Sports Consumer Behavior
Article critiques must include a brief overview of the article and a unique aspect of the research. Specifically, the paper should summarize the major points and critique the strengths, weakness, and contribution paper. This critique is not supposed to be a summary or an outline of the paper. The purpose of this paper is to train students to think critically about a piece of research rather than just blindly accept it. Each student will need to review a peer-reviewed research article on a topic he/she is interested. The topic (sport consumer behavior Perspective) of a chosen article may be related to sport involvement, motivation, emotion, satisfaction, etc. An article should be selected and reviewed from the following journals. 1. Journal of Sport Management 2. Sport Marketing Quarterly 3. International Journal of Sport Management 4. International Journal of Sport Management and Marketing 5. Sport Management Review 6. Or other sources upon the instructor’s approval Then, each student will create a summary report that narrates each of the following: (1) Cover sheet (include article title, your name in a format of “Reviewed by John Smith”, class number, and date) (2) Background/Study objectives (3) Methodology/Results (4) Discussion (5) Conclusion (Strength/Weakness of article in your own words)- This is the main point of article critique (6) References To find an article, go to Troy University Library webpage or click the following link (http://library.troy.edu/) and click “Full Text Journal Title Search” tab 1. Then, type in a journal name (#1, #2, #4, & #5 among the listed journals above are available in the Full Text Journal Title Search) 2. All other journals listed above (and many other journals not listed above) are also available in a hardcopy format at the Troy library To complete this assignment, each student needs to briefly summarize the chosen article, and a written report is created. The final written report should consist of 7 sections (see the list above). Basic steps of the assignment may include: 1. Briefly review abstracts in the journals listed above. 2. Choose an article that meets your interest (article MUST contain data; articles in the special issue section will NOT be accepted) 3. Read the entire article at least once to have the overall idea of the article 4. Reread each paragraph to find the theme (I would suggest to take some notes next to each paragraph if needed) 5. Create an outline of your article review that is logically flowing with good organization 6. Improve each section based on your editing (#5) 7. Complete the written report 8. Proof reading is strongly encouraged 9. Submit your assignment through BB
