Then click on Add Maps and click on the EJ Index in the “Category” box and select the environmental variable of your choice in the “Variable” box, then click “Add to Map.” 3. If you do not see any discreet patterns, you may want to select another variable to map. Take a screen shot of your map and include in your paper. Explain the map–what social and environmental indicators are represented on your map? To understand what is included the indexes, click on the Glossary button in the top right corner of the screen. Then research a little bit about the area you selected to map (e.g. check out the local newspaper, go to the city/county website). Why do you think there is a relationship between demographic and environmental variables? Be sure to cite your sources. (200-250 words) Finally discuss what you think this city/community could do to help alleviate areas where demographic vulnerability and adverse environmental impacts overlap. (100 words)
