Show the interplay between biology and psychology
Description
The final project serves as a culminating activity in which students demonstrate a deep understanding of the content presented in the course. Students will analyze a psychological disorder not only from the behaviors and symptoms that are exhibited, but also from the biological basis of the disorder in the brain before, during, and after treatment. Students will develop a case study and examine how medication, therapy, and other treatments can influence the brain and improve emotional functioning. Essentially, the final project serves as a way to show the interplay between biology and psychology, giving students an opportunity to apply the concepts they learned throughout the course. Instructions Review the final project summary details and references submitted during Module 4 (approved by the mentor) to generate a full case study analysis on the psychological disorder selected. This project must be 6–8 pages in length, use APA format, and integrate at least five scholarly references detailing the following: Develop a fictional client for this case study providing a brief summary of the case, including: Name, age, gender Family history School history Employment history Social history Current family dynamics Outline specific symptoms the client is experiencing, including: duration frequency Summarize the etiology for the disorder (genetic and environmental)
Provide appropriate treatment planning (therapy – individual/group/family) Discuss two types of theoretical approaches that have been used with this disorder. Include the key figures, specific methods used, and pros/cons of each approach. Choose one of these therapeutic approaches and describe techniques that have been shown to be effective with this disorder. Discuss the recommended medication(s) Examine the biological changes in the brain that occur with the medication(s) and how this changes behavior Suggest other treatments and include the rationale for each. Determine the final prognosis and conclude the case study. Required Text Book: Kalat, James W. (2016) Biological Psychology 12th edition, Cengage
