Length: 7-8 pages, double spaced, Times New Roman 12 point font This assignment asks you to write a scholarly essay in which you make an argument of your own about your research topic. While some of your essay will necessarily involve giving your readers appropriate background information, you should focus on the significance of your topic and claim. Your paper should answer the “so what” question (i.e.be clear about why your argument matters). Note #1: Be careful not to make sweeping generalizations about any of the texts/passages you discuss. Note #2: You should use at least three researched sources in your essay. Please use peer reviewed, scholarly criticism that you find through the library for your sources. I recommend using the MLA international bibliography, JSTOR, and World Cat. Grading CriteriaI will be looking for the following: 1. Active, significant claim 2. Pertinent analysis of secondary sources 3. Effective introduction 4. Clear, concise topic and transition sentences 5. Significant conclusion 6. Support/evidence for your claims (close reading & analytical thinking) 7. Good use and framing of quoted material 8 Correct citation (using MLA Style) Measure for Measure: 4) Discuss justice in the play. How does the play represent justice? Are justice and punishment necessarily the same, or do they differ? What are the various forms of justice? Do all of the characters abide by the same rules, or do they invoke different forms of justice? What’s at stake in justice breaking down in the community?
