Self-Awareness Lifeline
Experiential Exercise (Self-Awareness Lifeline) (25%)
This provides an opportunity to put into practice the principles and concepts that are being studied in the course. A brief visual diagram, list, or chart (fit on one page) should precede the essay, giving the reader a glance of 12 significant events in chronological format (a timeline). The subsequent essay should also be organized in a chronological format, and should focus on these points for each event charted:
•
the approximate date of the event and your age at the time
•
the nature of the event
•
the impact you believe the event may have had on you personally at the time of the event (may be subjective and/or objective)
•
the impact (positive, negative, or indifferent) this event may have on your functioning as a counselor (please be thoughtful on this point as this is quite important!)
Each “event” charted on the first page of the project needs to have 1-2 pages in narrative format in the essay section, totaling 12 (minimum)-24 (maximum) pages of essay. Please label each event in the essay clearly.
Since the focus is somewhat subjective, the instructor will primarily be looking for the level of transparency and introspective effort put into the project and the thoroughness of the above elements written up for each event listed. This is not a research paper but an introspective activity and yet, as applicable, APA guidelines apply.
Please be creative for me.
