Searching for Life in Our Solar System
To complete this assignment choose one PLANET in the solar system AND one MOON in our solar system that are good candidates to search for life. For each one (one planet and one moon) answer the following questions: 1. What evidence do we have about the composition of this planet or moon and its suitability for harbouring life? 2. Where does this planet or moon lie in the solar system (relative to the sun) and what does this mean about the habitiability on this planet or moon? 3. What evidence of unique characteristics of this planet or moon make it interesting to scientists for the potential to harbour life? Assignments not addressing these specific questions will be significantly reduced and may not be accepted. You will be marked on how well you use evidence from scientifically valid sources (e.g. articles from your discussions or other scientific articles) to make your arguments. You should demonstration your understanding of the unique features of this world and how life may have lived there in the past or lives there now.
