Review the Grand City High School media
Paper: Action Plan Emergencies and crises are not planned events; they occur at all hours of the day, during inopportune moments, and mostly unexpectedly. It is critical that educational leaders are prepared to respond to any situation at any given time with efficiency. It also is important to consider how events within the community impact students, their families, and stakeholders. What role do school leaders play when a tragic event occurs within the community? How can their response preserve a safe, positive school culture while assisting those in need? In preparation for your final paper, you will review a case study related to a crisis situation. (The video is uploaded in files) The principal at Grand City High School has worked diligently to foster a safe school community since the unfortunate incident three years ago. Strides have been made, and parents are beginning to integrate with the school community, but there is still much work to be done. The principal has engaged the community in many ways: conferences, public speaking, and engagement in community activities with many of the school personnel (e.g., cultural events, parades, food drives). The principal has increased his presence in the community. At 2:00 one morning, he receives a call from emergency personnel alerting him that there has been an apartment fire. There are several students who have lost their homes. Injuries are unknown, but the principal knows this is a traumatic event for the school community. What should the principal do? For this paper, review the Grand City High School media. Write about your initial reaction, knowing the community and the school have faced tragedy not long ago. Explain your course of action, from the moment you receive the phone call to arriving at the school, to provide continuity in student learning and to maintain a sense of safety and security. What resources would you utilize or mobilize, and with whom would you collaborate to create equitable and inclusive practices that address the crisis while maintaining a safe school culture? Explain your rationale as well as your legal and ethical responsibilities regarding this situation. Explain the consequences of not responding effectively and efficiently.
