Research Paper: Theological Anthropology Essay
Write an 8-10 page (double spaced, 1” page margins, 12 point font, Times New Roman, use footnotes for citations) research paper based off the theme of theological anthropology in St. Athanasius’s On the Incarnation and Cone’s The Cross and the Lynching Tree. After reading both books, provide an analysis and summary of its content. Determine what concepts like God, Christ, and salvation mean for a theological understanding of the human being. The focus of the paper is to define the theological understanding of the human being in both books. After the analysis of both books, you will close the paper with a compare and contrast of the theologian’s arguments. You may use the other textbooks (Jones, Barth, and Jimenez) to structure your analysis. Outside research using only scholarly journal articles and books are encouraged. Organize your paper in this way: -Title page (start at page 0) -Introduction (include a opening “hook,” clear thesis/topic sentence)-approx. 1-2 pages (I encourage the use of headings and subheadings to successfully organize the paper to your proposed outline) -Body of Paper-approx. 6-7 pages (shape this part of the paper as outlined in your topic sentence; open with an analysis/summary of Cone and Athanasius, then provide a theological/integrative response-there should be at the minimum 4-8 footnotes per page of the Body) -Conclusion-approx. 1 page (clearly restate the topic of the paper, summarize paper topic-making a closing anecdote) -Bibliography-approx. 1 separate page (5-10 sources-mostly books/articles) The paper will be written following Chicago style/Turabian (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site.
