Essay #4: Brave New World Book Length: a minimum of 5 pages of text, double spaced, Times New Roman 12 point font Assignment: Alduous Huxley wrote Brave New World in 1931, predicting a far future dystopian society in which consumerism runs amok, the public is inundated with drugs and media distractions, and power has been consolidated into an authoritarian regime. Do you believe any of Huxley’s predictions have come to pass? In what ways, if any, does our modern society resemble the one depicted in the novel? Using research as support (at least 3 outside sources), compare modern society to Brave New World. Does the novel seem dated, or is it a prescient warning of things to come?
