Racial passing and the effects
Thesis statement should be a clear argumentative claim about racial passing. The essay should provide a combination of reasoning and evidence to support that thesis statement. A successful essay will include answers to background questions (e.g. “What is racial passing?” and “Why would someone choose to pass as someone of another race?”). It will also focus on answering questions about the effects of racial passing (e.g. “How have people who have passed been affected – positively and negatively – by their passing?” and “What are the effects of racial passing on other individuals?”).
