PSYCHOLOGY 3331 – ABNORMAL PSYCHOLOGY VIDEO REVIEW AND ANALYSIS PAPER

1. Your instructor will assign a video to you for you to watch, review and analyze.

2. Depending on your video it can be accessed either from the PBS: Frontline Series; Top Documentary Films; or YouTube Videos.

3. Watch your selected video in its entirety the first time you view it. Most of these videos are approximately 1 or 1+ hours in length. Some of these videos are usually divided into smaller components or episodes so please be sure you watch your entire video.

4. Watch your selected video a second time and while doing so be sure to review the video very slowly and carefully and take notes along the way. The notes you write will be used to write your analysis paper.

5. Write a detailed analysis paper of the video. In your paper please address/include the following: (1) What is the main message of the film? (2) Who are the characters in the film: child, children, adolescent(s), family members, other individuals and experts (law enforcement or other legal entities, medical or mental health professionals, clergy, teachers, etc.)? (3) What is or are the problem(s) identified in the video? (4) Listen to what the experts are saying in the film and write about their knowledge and expertise of the situation/problem. (5) Identify and write about the disorders that might have been identified in the film that are identified in your textbook. (5) Consider your impression of the topic/problems identified in the film and write about your impressions.

6. Also answer the following question in your written analysis: Did the video change your way of thinking? How did it do so?

7. Your 5-6 page (body of paper) paper will be written: double-spaced, 12-point font, Times New Roman.

8. Required elements for your APA formatted paper: Cover page, Abstract, Body of Paper to include Level 1 Headings, Conclusion and Reference Page
