Performance Management and Patient Safety

Select one performance measurement and respond to these items: Briefly summarize the performance measurement and its key concepts. Explain the significance of the performance measurement to an HIM professional. Explain how you would use the EHR system to evaluate your performance measurement. Create an example of a visual (chart or graph) to illustrate performance over time. Explain how the performance measurement can contribute to the overall concepts of performance management and patient safety. Each student must select a different topic, so post as quickly as you can to “claim” the one you prefer. After you post your initial response, react to at least two of your classmates’ initial posts. Point out any crucial information that was missed and/or ask questions to extend your classmates’ thinking. If you have personal experience with a particular topic, share any “lessons learned” or best practices deriving from that experience.
