Panopticism

This paper is meant to help you apply concepts you’ve learned in NMC 493 to a specific cultural context. The paper asks you to do the following things: 1) Choose one of the course’s main theoretical/conceptual frameworks (e.g., propaganda, panopticism, governmentality, or control society). 2) Perform a literature review of this theoretical framework, using a maximum of three sources that were assigned in this class. (In other words, outside research will be required.) 3) Apply these concepts to an original analysis of a cultural/media phenomenon, using additional outside sources as appropriate. 4) Conclude by reflecting on what your research means for media, power, and our society. Suggest additional areas of future research.
