Optimal recruiting and retention volunteer model
THE ASSIGNMENT MUST CONTAIN SCHOLARLY SOURCES Assignment details is as follows: You are required to choose an organization, which relies heavily on the use of “volunteers” such as Habitat for Humanity, YMCA, churches, booster clubs at schools, along with various not-for-profit run centers. Some of these places derive revenue from donations, silent auctions, concession sales and endowments to help with funding program operations. Volunteers must help organize and execute activities surrounding these different sources of potential revenue streams. There is no pay, just goodwill to help organizations reach their operating goals and fulfill community needs. It is your task to create a “Sustainable Volunteer” model, which will not only help your chosen organizations, but it can be adapted to help others. For instance, your “Sustainable Volunteer” model will identify strategies to attract, recruit, retain, train, promote and schedule volunteers. You might want to start thinking about organizations who can benefit from such as a model. I personally spend a lot of time with not-for-profit organizations like the Rotary, Optimist Club and local sports organizations. These types of businesses rely solely on memberships to help carry out operations specific to their mission statement. Following is an example the instructor gave. For instance, as past President and Treasurer of a local soccer club, I am interested in volunteers to help coach young kids in age groups from 4-18 years old. My model would include a recruitment component, training, background check, retention and recognition elements to cite a few. This model would be specific to the soccer club; however, it can be adapted and modified to other businesses who rely extensively on the use of volunteers. Retention is an important element in any volunteer setting. As you may know, friends will volunteer with other friends. Some who volunteer once may not do so gain, why? Your model will need to address issues like retention. How does your model address recruitment? How will you advertise? Is age an important factor for your model. The Sustainable Volunteer Model should focus on the volunteer industry as an whole, however, the aim is to develop an optimal volunteer model that one can apply to Habitat for Humanity ( or any not-for profit organization) and apply it to their specific needs. Literature review is an important element in any research. It allows you to investigate, process and filter all available information. The paper should cover how “BEST PRACTICES” for managing a “Volunteer- based operations” helps with organizations recruitment, retention, recognition component, and training and background check. Many organizations will draw upon the use of volunteers to help them reach their goals and objectives. Habitat for Humanity relies largely on volunteers to help with new construction or remodeling existing properties. What are there strategies for recruiting volunteers? Is there a screening process? Is experience required by volunteers? What about personal liabilities while on the job? These and other questions will certainly present themselves while developing your “Sustainable Volunteer Model.” Note: These are a couple of idea you can keep in mind when developing the optimal sustainable model. Habitat for Humanity uses media exposure, partner with churches, and social media to meet and recruit members. For retention, the organization ensure everyone have an rewarding experience, provide lunch, and volunteer appreciation. There are many ways people could volunteer with Habitat for Humanity. Individuals can help in the office with administrative work, fundraisers, on the ob site, the Habitat ReStore, and neighborhood clean ups. There is no experience needed to volunteer on the job site (where individuals help build homes). Individuals with disabilities can help in the office, fundraiser, the Habitat Restore ( where people donate building materials), neighborhood cleanups. I will attach the paper format. The format used must be APA and no more than 10 pages double spaced for the length of your paper. Your tile page and reference pages are not to be included in the 10 pages or fewer report (ie. paper)
