Overview: For the first milestone assignment, you will draft the introduction and threat identification sections of your threat assessment report. The purpose of this milestone is to produce a draft of these sections so that you can receive instructor feedback. Asset Identification: Introduce the key asset that your report focuses on, including the critical infrastructure sector that the asset belongs to. The main three elements you should include in this introduction are the key asset profile. For more detail on what to include in your key asset identification, review the Milestone One Guide document. II. Threat Identification: In this section, you will discuss the past and current man-made (terrorist) threats that make the key asset a potential target for terrorist activity. A. Determine the current terrorist threats against the key asset’s critical infrastructure sector. Support your response with evidence. B. Explain the history of past terrorist threats against the key asset. C. Determine the domestic and/or international terrorist groups that currently pose a threat to the key asset. Support your response with evidence. D. Explain the motivations, capabilities, and tactics of the terrorist groups that pose a threat to the key asset. Support your response with evidence. E. Rate the current threat level to estimate how likely it is that a terrorist attack will occur on the key asset, and justify your reasoning. Use a scale from 0–10 for your rating, with “0” being no risk of an attack and “10” being an imminent risk. Be sure to review the Milestone One Guide, which provides extensive support materials for each prompt. You should also download and complete the Milestone One Worksheet. Milestone Rubrics: Note that the grading rubric for this milestone submission is not identical to that of the final project, as this is a draft and not your final submission. The Final Project Rubric will include an additional “Exemplary” category that provides guidance as to how you can go above and beyond “Proficient” in your final submission. Rubric Guidelines for Submission: Your paper should be a minimum of 3 pages, not including the references page, and follow APA formatting: 12-pt. Times New Roman font, double spacing, and one-inch margins. Remember to include a references page and cite any research you use in your paper.
