New biofuel product developed by ExxonMobil (Persuasive Essay)
This topic will discuss the new biofuel product developed by ExxonMobil within the last year. It’s not a secret that new technologies help to reduce green gas emissions that are associated with the use of energy sources. Scientists across the globe are engaged in research studies that seek solutions to emergent energy, environmental, and food challenges. Human society should not miss the opportunity to facilitate global greenhouse gas emission reductions as well as the local environmental and societal benefits generated by biofuels. The new product developed by ExxonMobil will gain popularity among consumers due to the benefits it provides both to consumers and the environment. ExxonMobil is specialized in manufacturing energy technology products that offer a new biofuel product made from algae that can help to reduce not only green gas emissions, but also by minimizing the environmental impact on land, water, and food supplies. We can all agree that most, or all energy sources are harmful to the environment, so by finding alternative routes to address these issues can be very beneficial to society. Biofuels manufacturing depends on recent advancements in the fields of genetics, biotechnology, process chemistry, and engineering which contributes to the establishment of a new manufacturing model that will convert renewable biomass to valuable fuels and products without much loss. Biofuel products are produced from biomass which “represents an abundant carbon-neutral renewable resource for the production of bioenergy and biomaterials, and its enhanced use would address a number of societal needs” (Ragauskas, Williams, Davison, Britovsek, et al., 2006, p. 484). The biofuel technology is based on the integration of agro-energy crops and bio-refinery manufacturing methods to provide the opportunity for sustainable development of bio-power and biomaterials that will establish new manufacturing model (Ragauskas et al., 2006). Biofuel technology is aimed at sustainable development of energy sources with the focus on cost efficiency and competitiveness. “Lignocellulosic biomass has long been recognized as a potential sustainable source of mixed sugars for fermentation to biofuels and other biomaterials” (Himmel, Ding, Johnson, Adney, Nimlos, Brady, et al., 2007, p. 804). Few successful technologies have already been launched during the past decades to allow this conversion process to be implemented without considerable losses, but there is a need for making this process more cost-efficient and competitive in today’s mass markets (Himmel et al., 2007). The benefits provided by the new product to society and the environment should be recognized by all consumers. Society will benefit from this new biofuel product in several ways, mainly through price stability, lack of dependency on fossil fuels imports, and the creation of new jobs in the field of biofuels production (Vertes, Inui, Yukawa, 2006). The mass production of the new biofuel product will contribute to the environment through significant reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and conversion of wastes from bio-industry, like food, forestry, agriculture, to biofuels (Vertes et al., 2006). The world is not yet ready to rely fully on electric resources and abandon the usability of fuel. Electric vehicles supporters should recognize that, in many cases, fuel sources are generating the electricity that charges electric vehicles. If the country is to make this transition, policymakers should consider different sources of energy, like nuclear and biofuel. (Jason Perlow, 2013). The benefits provided by the new product to society and the environment should be recognized by the government. The government should control the key processes of production to avoid violations. In this topic, I explained how biofuels can help to reduce green gas emissions and minimize the environmental impact on the land and climate change. Scientists offer to use algae which stands for naturally produced lipids that can be utilized for transformation into renewable, lower-emission fuel for addressing transportation needs and reducing environmental problems. Obviously, the new algae biofuel product will not only provide a viable alternative to traditional fossil fuels but also it will minimize losses as this technology will be able to meet the consumer’s demands while addressing climate change.
