Movie analysis “When Harry Met Sally”.
In class during Week 10, we watched the movie “When Harry Met Sally”. Your task in this paper is to analyze – from a social relationships perspective – the behaviors and events depicted in this film. You are not being asked to critique the film in terms of its value as a work of art or as entertainment. Rather, you being asked to think carefully about the actions and events portrayed in the film and apply what you’ve learned this quarter about social relationships. After viewing the film and after reviewing your notes and readings, identify THREE social relationships concepts that appear to be operating in the film (e.g., men and women cannot be friends, opposites attract, the exchange of equitable traits, etc.). For EACH concept: (a) Briefly describe the relevant scene (you may assume the reader has seen the film). (0.75 points for each concept; 2.25 points total across 3 concepts); (b) Describe the social relationships concept you believe is relevant and briefly describe the concept and/or relevant research from textbook/lecture notes (0.75 points for each concept; 2.25 points total across 3 concepts); (c) Elaborate on how the selected scene illustrates a concept and connects to research findings on the concept (e.g., describe how scene is similar to, or different from, relevant research). (0.75 points for each concept; 2.25 points total across 3 concepts). (2.25 points will be given for proper formatting and academic writing, including page length and proper grammar).
