Material culture and non-material culture
Culture is made up of four major building blocks: symbols, language, values and norms. And, there are 2 types of culture: material culture and non-material culture. Define and provide examples of material (the tangible things) and non-material culture (the 4 building blocks) and evaluate how they are related to each other and to ANY one social institution we studied this term. For example, you can apply material culture, symbols, language, values and norms to the family, a hospital, your workplace, a religion of your choice, schools, and more! In addition, discuss the role that socialization plays in linking the individual within a society to that culture.
