This is the final essay of the course and arguably, the most important. This essay requires students to make a significant literary argument about one of the films, or both. This means that the thesis must state something that is, ideally, original in thought, and sophisticated in its argument. What does the chosen film or films represent? Think about the issues we’ve covered during the course and draw upon those in crafting your argument. You should quote significantly from the films, scholarly journal articles, and significant critic movie reviews. Although this is technically a visual argument essay because we are examining films as the “texts” you should treat this as a standard literary criticism essay. This means it should have a solid introduction, thesis, body, and conclusion.
