Male & Female Brains

July 29, 2024/0 Comments/in Uncategorized /by Admin

Description

Your Application Assignments for each week will focus on your assigned textbook readings. In each of these assignments, you will compare and contrast biological changes in the brain across the developmental lifespan. You will then examine the relationship of these biological changes and their implications for practice in the field of psychology. While your assigned textbook readings will serve as one resource, you will need to find at least two other resources to defend your statements. These assignments should be written in APA formatting style and should not use first-person language. Be sure to use correctly formatted in-text citations and quotations to give the author credit for your researched information. Assignment Overview In your assigned readings for this first week, you were introduced to the male brain and the female brain. You learned that 99% of genetic coding between the two genders is essentially the same. While brain size is different, both the male and female brain share the same number of brain cells. Genesis 2:21-22 illustrates God’s creation of mankind through Adam and Eve. You will find in this scripture passage that Eve was created from one of Adam’s ribs – Adam’s own DNA! Take a look at this article (http://www.genesisandgenetics.org/category/dna/) for more information on Genesis and Genetics. Keep the creation account from Genesis 2 in mind as you complete this assignment! Most would agree that male and female thoughts and behavior differ vastly! God created male and female genetically similar, yet so unique!!! Assignment Instructions In your Apply assignment for week 1, compare and contrast the male and female brain. You will want to include information on the brain’s physical characteristics, effects of hormones on the brain and the perception differences between the two brains (your textbook terms this perception as “reality”). After completing your comparison, include a section on the importance of knowing these similarities and differences when working with clients in a clinical setting. Your assignment should include an introduction, body and conclusion with a reference page listing the resources you cited. Include at least one paragraph for each of the following sections: Compare the male brain and the female brain, listing their similarities.

Contrast the male brain and the female brain, listing differences found between the two. Explain the importance of knowing these similarities / differences in clinical practice. Should you have any questions regarding this assignment, direct them to your course facilitator.
