Assignment Purpose: As transformational leaders, your role requires you to establish direction for teams, align people towards a vision, inspire them to change, and deliver new solutions. With that, you need to understand how your collaborations add value to and through your networks. Drawing on the insights gained from the content presented and discussed during the sessions, and/or any additional material from recent peer reviewed journals or periodicals such as Harvard Business Review, please complete the following assignment Assignment Task: This individual assignment requires you to analyze the forces affecting change in your area of influence in Vodacom and make recommendations to ensure that the vision is achieved. Context: This should be written in a context of being a Senior Executive leading an Engineering division within a Network Mobile Operator Company in a specific Country in Africa. Planning and executing Network Changes, Maintaining the Network and Ensuring Network Quality of Service constitute the area of influence to consider. Requirements Section 1: Significance of Organisational Change and Agility Discuss why organisational agility and change is important for your unit. Your response will be evaluated both for academic rigour and application to the company. (Please do not exceed 1 page) Section 2: Application: Identifying the Vision and Forces Affecting Change for a Functional Area in the Company (1) Consider your strategic positioning for the unit: a. What is your five year vision for this functional area and why? b. What do you believe are the most important internal and external forces that is affecting, or will be affecting the implementation of this vision? Report your direction in one page. Consider using elements of a strategic map to display your vision. (2) Conduct a focus group discussion with four to six people from the your functional area who are in middle or junior management: a. Explain your vision to them b. Ask them what they believe needs to change internally and externally for the vision to be realised c. Ask them what they believe is enabling the execution of the vision. (The focus group discussion must not exceed one hour) Include the main findings from the focus group in your report, not exceeding one page. Consider reporting the findings under themes such as leadership requirements, organisational requirements, team requirements and personal requirements. (3) Conduct a force field analysis based only on the findings of the focus group discussion. Present your findings only in the form of a force field analysis graph, not exceeding one page. (4) List five key recommendations you would make to the business and other functional areas to ensure that the necessary change takes place. You may briefly motivate each recommendation. This should demonstrate systems thinking and boundary spanning.
