Japan’s fabrication of its wartime aggression during Nanking Massacre
By examining the ways in which the Japanese government and revisionists modified, fabricated, or simply ignored the wartime aggression and atrocity during Nanking Massacre, this paper will explore the tension and enmity at both diplomatic and individual levels of two nations since the post-war era to this day. In addition, this paper will investigate the rationales and incentives that have led Japanese state authorities to contribute in indoctrinating its own people. As a result of the failure by the Japanese government to appropriately inform its people, Nanking Massacre has become a major source of conflict between China and Japan, unanticipated anti-Chinese sentiment in Japan, and heightened tension between the two nations. Topics that need to be covered if possible: -Nazi-Japan comparison(their wartime aggression and how they dealt with the victim countries(post-war), did Nazi also fabricate or deny their aggression? have they completely admitted or apologized?) -media representations of the Nanjing Massacre in both Chinese and Japanese(possibly also in western nations) media(how different?) -Anti-Chinese sentiment in Japan(how did the perpetrator begin disliking the victims? government problem? Is this a response to the anti-Japanese sentiment in China?) -where do Japan and China go from here? Any other topics that are relevant to my paper would also be great.
