Write a 3-4 page paper summarizing the answers to the following questions. If you interview a professional, you will need to choose someone who is currently working in the field of fitness, and has at least 4 -5 years of experience along with the appropriate background which will support their ability to answer the questions. Professional Questions: a. How prominently are mental factors involved in your work with physical activity participants? b. What psychological objectives do you have for those with whom you work (e.g., increased self-esteem)? c. How do you motivate those with whom you work? d. What are the major psychological problems you encounter in working with physical activity participants? If you interview an athlete, you will need to choose someone whose experience is more than a couple of years in a sport, and would have competed in a level of competition that typically would invoke a higher performance stress/anxiety. I do NOT want you to interview a close friend or someone who has only competed in club type sports. Athlete Questions: a. Think of a competition in which you performed well. Indicate how you mentally prepared for the event. What did you specifically think or say to yourself to get mentally ready to compete? b. Did you feel stressed before or during the competition? If so, how did you deal with the stress of the competition? What mental strategies did you use? c. What did you learn about yourself from that particular performance? d. What would you do to improve your performance for the next competition?
