Write a review of academic literature covering a topic among the following: institutional distance, born globals, international joint ventures, cross-border acquisitions, liability of foreignness, international alliances, foreign direct investments of emerging market MNCs/MNEs Outline: Introduction (explain importance of the topic, here business press can be used to emphasize relevance of the topic) Review the literature and synthesize the body of knowledge: (main concept(s), theories/frameworks used, relationships established (dependent and independent variables), focus on major findings of past research, current focus/hot topics, gaps and future directions suggested in the recent literature. Note1: When reviewing the academic literature, please remember that in this class we are focused on the international business (organizational level) rather than on the macro-economic perspective (journals from economic field won’t be helpful). Hence, carefully select your articles from appropriate journals. It is helpful to start by a Google scholar search of key terms paying attention to highly cited articles (seminal pieces of a high impact), try to find existing “literature review” (not to copy but to understand the state of the research and its “big picture”), finally, review some of the more recent articles (e.g., 2017 and onward) for most current developments. Note2: Use the TAMUCT library database to retrieve articles identified from Google Scholar. Then, do a separate search of “peer reviewed” articles through the databases available via the TAMUCT library paying a particular attention to the quality journals such as those from the list below. Make sure to check the box “peer reviewed” as a minimum quality standard and to filter out all non-academic literature. Note3: Once you finish reviewing the articles, try to organize and synthesize the information in a meaningful way using the outline provided with the assignment. You have to cite all your sources (it is my assumption that none of you are experts on the topic you are researching, so you have to provide sources for the information you write, your own thoughts will mainly find place in the discussion of the implications of your findings and will not require cites :)).
