You need to identify a business problem and propose a solution to that problem. You may need to interview a business manager to identity an interesting problem to solve using information systems. You may also identify the problem from your experience or searching through the internet. You need to work in teams of 4 to 5 students. Make sure the business problem related to a business process belonging to the one or more from the four business functions (Human Resources, Marketing and Sales, Accounting and Finance, and Manufacturing. Your project should cover the following issues. • Organization Background • Provide background on the history of the organization, • Type of business, products/services provided • Management structure. • Porters forces to illustrate the competitive position of the organization • BMC • Any other issues that you feel are necessary to provide the reader with a comprehensive understanding of the background on the organization • Problem • Fishbone analysis • Context of the problem • Current Challenges facing the organization • What are the needs and business issues? • Consider the three dimension of the information systems • Solution • What is the core solution, features and functions? • Who are the beneficiary • Value proposition • How will it be used • Provide prototype of screens and reports • Sustainable outcomes (Social, Environmental, Economic) • How does it fit in the firm’s value chain? • What does the TCO analysis show? • Use the Pencil project to create interface screen • Consider the three dimension of the information systems • Implementation Plan • How would you implement the system? • Draw Context diagram level 0 • Entity Relation Diagram • What ecosystem and infrastructure required – IS architecture, hardware, software, networking, databases, and users to be involved • Consider the three dimension of the information system
