Paper details Task: The items that we use in our day-to-day lives at some point or another came from raw material or resource obtained from our environment. For this assignment, you will be looking for a final product that you can use to make the final consumer stage. You are expected to have a variety of resources (textbooks, internet, reference books, etc …), The Finished “Product” is Hudson Bay (The Company) In the essay, we have to answer these questions: 1 Introduction Page-Describe what the topic of your report is 2. Where in Canada is the raw material obtained? -Use a map of Canada to identify the location. 3. Description of the environmental factors affecting resource?- Describe the geological processes that created this resource; What type of rock is it found in, where is it found, etc … 4. Description of retrieval methods of specific resource?- Describe the types of equipment and machinery workers need to extract the resource. Briefly describe how the operation works 5. Environmental problems associated with this industry?- Describe some of the negative effects or problems created by this resource (Examples: contamination and erosion, hazards/dangers to workers, recycling, etc …) 6. Processing of product for the market? -Describe how the resource is changed into the final product (stages) 7. Movement of product from source to final distribution. Is there any government involvement in the industry? -What are the laws and regulations or rules companies have to follow in extracting the resources. 10.Global competition- What other countries do we produce and how to produce the finished product? 11. Importance of mining activity in Canada- How many people are employed in this industry? How much money does it contribute to the economy? 12. Future of this industry in Canada- What are some of the issues facing this industry (Is it growing? Declining?) If no longer in Canada, why? 13.
