Global poverty
Prepare a PowerPoint of at least 10 frames, with notes, to narrate the PowerPoint, of not less than 100 words per frame. 1. moral issue: global, poverty-> uninsured individuals in the US which then leads to spread of diseases, effects states economy, and leads to illness of individuals. 2. Tie your position and response on the issue to one of the moral theories we have discussed in the class. (you can use the book for chapter 3,6,7,14,15) You can access the book like the previous assignments. 3. Elaborate on practical steps students (and others) could take to address the issue. The topic needs to be relevant, one students could respond to. For example, “Europe’s refugee crisis” might not seem relevant for American students, it is the responsibility of European students/citizens to address it–however, one might argue that Europe’s problems could be alleviated with Americans’ help if we (1) agreed to take more refugees from Syria, and (2) changed our foreign policies in ways that created less refugees in the first place. Then outline out NGOs or PACs students could get involved with to promote these ends. 4. Be sure to give an example at least one possible pitfall or unintended consequence, and suggest how to it might be avoided or mitigated. For example: one might start with the general issue of global, poverty, narrow it down to medical needs and then to mortality rates due to malaria in sub-Saharan Africa, then research the best organizations that are helping address that problem and how students could get involved. Also anticipate at least one possible pitfall or unintended consequence, and suggest how it might be avoided.
