Folk songs or music

 Using at least two outside sources of academic merit (not including dictionaries or encyclopedias, either hard copy or electronic; dictionaries and encyclopedias may be used, but they may not count as either of the two sources), define folk songs or folk music. Be sure to use specific American works as well as quotes to support your points. Be sure you use academically valid, credible, authoritative works and sites for sources — sites such as Ask.com, About.com, Wikipedia.com, and so forth are not academic sites. Please employ the 8th Edition (2016 version) Modern Language Association (MLA) style for research papers.
