Factors That Influence the Various Factors on Law Enforcement Officials’ Level of Work Satisfaction
DISCUSSION Congratulations! You are on your last chapter and almost done with your research paper. This section has four distinct parts. Start with a paragraph or two summarizing what you found in the results section. Then go into the Limitations heading Limitations of Study This is the section where you express any concerns about the limits of your study. Were the variables poorly measured? Was the sample very unique and not able to be generalized? Were you unable to examine all the variables that could possibly have an effect on your DV? Plus any other issues/limits you recognize. Often times, your recommendations for further study in the section that follows later will call research to address some of these limitations. Policy Implications This is where you explain what implications your study could have on the field. What reasonable suggestions (don’t say abolish the police) do you have to make changes in policy about your topic? For example (and this is a silly one), if your study examined the color that officers wore you could say that when officers wore purple hats, people were more likely to comply, thus you recommend that all officers begin wearing purple hats. Again, these suggestions must come from what you believe the research suggests. Recommendation for Further Study In this section, you suggest what future scholars should examine concerning your topic. It can include expanding upon your own work or addressing any holes you found when completing your literature review. It could also suggest clarification on conflicting findings. It could also recommend different variables to examine or seeing if the findings hold true with other populations. Conclusion This is a final concluding paragraph or two of your entire proposal.
