Ethical Considerations in Nursing.
Introduction and Alignment Working in healthcare automatically exposes you to and demands interactions with multiple healthcare disciplines. Each professional discipline you encounter in healthcare has its own code of ethics, whether social workers, physical therapists, physicians, etc. Of course, you know that nursing has its own Code of Ethics written by the American Nurses Association. It should come as no surprise, then, when you read public health also has its own code of ethics. However, it is not the writing of the ethical codes that is difficult. What is difficult about ethical codes is application. Whether discussing ethics from a personal dilemma perspective or a broad social context, it is doing what the ethical code says you are to do that is difficult. Therefore, in this discussion, you will become more familiar with the Public Health Code of Ethics and then tackle the task of developing your own personal position on the topics of social justice and ethics. Upon completion of this assignment, you should be able to: Establish a personal position regarding the social justice, ethical principles, and Christian values inherent in population-focused nursing practice.
