Paper #1: Documentary Response/Reaction Paper. Find a documentary that has something to do with human trafficking and write a reaction paper about it (e.g., I am Jane Doe, Tricked, The Dark Side of Chocolate, Whistleblower, Born into Brothels, Redlight, Trade, Cargo: Innocence Lost, Call + Response, Invisible Children, Human Trafficking, The Day My God Died, Trading Women, Nefarious). It can be about any form of trafficking we have discussed in class (i.e., labor, sex or organ trafficking, domestic servitude, child soldiers, debt bondage, child brides). If you have a documentary you are unsure if it falls into this criteria ASK ME FIRST. DO NOT USE THE MOVIE “TAKEN”!! Incorporate references from relevant readings/articles or lectures where appropriate. In other words, discuss how the documentary reflect what you learned from other class material (and cite the reading where appropriate). Does the documentary support what you have learned in class? How does the documentary differ from what you have learned in class? How are victims “reflected” in the documentary (e.g., as manipulative, helpless, or as derogatory “hoes” or prostitutes, etc)? How are perpetrators reflected in the documentary (e.g., stereotypical pimps, only males, etc).
