As you do so, briefly explain what is meant by the contention that gender is “socially constructed”. 2. Name and briefly discuss one area in our culture where there is still a disparity between men and women and whether our increasing androgyny in gender roles will help diminish that difference. Speaking of androgyny and shifting perspectives, do you think that there is a “new sexual double standard” in our culture where objectifying women is now off limits while objectification of men is okay (think about “masculinity” and “femininity” as discussed in the chapter as well as he first clip above. 3. Sexual orientation is another polarizing issue in our society.
