Designing Pre-Referral Interventions
You are required to design at least 3 Pre- Referral Interventions for one or more students. (A process for students entering Special Education) This assignment should include consultation and collaboration with a General Education Teacher. You may collaborate in person, via phone, or email. This must be done this summer – not from previous semesters! The general Education teachers names you may use are Mrs. Traci Hayes, Dea’Lana Glascoe, Laura Vance. If there are any questions please contact me. A description/log should be kept that includes the following: o Date and times of collaboration/consultation with the general education teacher, o Description of the student’s academic/behavioral problem, o Description of the collaboration/consultation completed with the general education teacher during the entire pre-referral process, and o Description of communication/collaboration strategies employed during the collaboration. Specific Writing Instructions from the Professor: • Be careful with paragraphs – almost everyone had run-on paragraphs. They were way too long. If you are starting a new thought – start a NEW paragraph. • Do not double space after a period. • The punctuation always goes INSIDE of the quotes. For example: “…it will be a better option,” said the man. Or she screamed, “Stop!” (This is NOT correct: “. ) • The writing work has to go beyond simply telling me your opinion or recapping what you read. Give examples of what you are learning and show me that you can apply it to your work. It’s okay to have an opinion, but be sure to anchor it to the content. • Be mindful of passive voice when writing
